Salon Talk 21st January 2009

The diets were all beginning to flag last week until the TV documentary on the sixty stone teenager. Everyone was back on the salads and the jelly the following day. What most clients were shocked about was how the mum kept on feeding him up with McDonalds and KFC even though he was so big.

Quite the opposite was everyone’s reaction to Kerry Katona she looks fantastic, pity she says she has lost the weight to keep her husband Mark happy. Do it for yourself everyone says.

We’ve had so many favourite heads this week with Angelina Jollie and Kirstin Scott Thomas looking particularly amazing at the Golden Globe Awards, Getting a good look when your going to be photographed so much and seen on so many television screens is so important. You have to have a practical and wearable style that’s going to look good all evening and is not going to need any maintenance I think both these stars got their hairstyles spot on and I expect a flood of clients to be asking us to re-create them over the next few weeks.

Saddest site of the week was Jade Goody on holiday with her boys but having to wear a bathing cap because she is undergoing Chemotheraphy *, It’s a reminder of how important our hair is to us and how exposed we feel without it. We have a lot of clients who can relate to Jade and it’s always good when we can style a wig for them to give them that confidence booster they need during this particularly stressful time.

Are we going to have a return of the scouse perm we where asked this week this was on the back of Everton’s Marouaine Fellanni’s being in all the newspapers calm down calm down we said, It must be a Belgian thing. But their’s no denying he has got a head and a half! His huge bushy curls just seem to be getting bigger and bigger, We’d love to get our hands on that head.

Fashion must have this week is a Gilet, one of those thick woolly waste coats, They look great. Super stylish and warm they are the fashion accessory of the moment

This week we’ve been following the comings and goings at the Saint Georges Hall which is just opposite or salon. Living TV show Most Haunted has been broadcasting a week of programmes about haunted Liverpool. From the queues that form early afternoon there’s no doubt the contacting the spirit world is big business, which made me think from the look of Marouaine Fellanni’s hair maybe he must have seen a ghost!

* For anyone who is undergoing chemotherapy and would like any hair advice or would like to have their wig styled please contact the salon as their is no charge for this service.
