Salon Talk 29th January

This week seems to be all about bad hair, and movies. We’ve seen some terrible cuts and some great films over the last few days,

It’s been like a bad trip back to the eighties for some Heather Mills McCartney has tried to re-invent herself with a short crop, it’s far to severe for her, and looks to dated. I always think as we get older that we should start to go a little shorter but Heather’s cut is to hard it needs to be softened and given a modern twist.

Another person who is having bad short hair experience is Nel McAndrew, her crop is far to severe and masculine, and the clothes styling for the adverts she is in doesn’t improve her image at all . Neither Heather or Nel have had their haircuts and hair colours personalised to suit them and it shows, not a lot of good comments on their looks

Our final bad head of the week has to be Micky Rourke star of the Wrestler. Micky plays the title role and his full tan and blonde permed long mullet look is wrong in so many ways yet so right for the part. I wasn’t that impressed with the film, but those that have seen it say they liked it. I thought that he may have adopted this look for the film and then I saw him at an awards ceremony and he looked the same! However my favourite film this week was Slumdog Millionaire. A real feel good film and a great story. I would thoroughly recommend it.

I’m not a fan but the biggest disappointment at the cinema this week for staff and clients was My Bloody Valentine 3D except their was no 3D. If horror films want to impress they have to go that bit further and without the 3D it just didn’t make the grade.

We’ve been talking about our favourite cinema’s this week. Some love the old style Woolton cinema I love the FACT centre in Bold street, But everyone says the cinema’s in Liverpool 1 is the best.

Everyone is looking forward to Ray Quinn on Dancing on Ice this weekend, the first week he amazed everyone with his skating skills, and everyone was talking about how impressed they were by him.

With all the awards going on at the moment all the magazines feature stick thin celebrities and this has brought to our attention the latest celebrity endorsed, can’t fail fad diet. The Maple Syrup diet and detox is the weight reducing method of choice for the stars. The menu was to eat nothing but take a drink of syrup every ten minutes for a fortnight. Everybody liked the idea of it until they found out how much a little bottle of Maple syrup cost! You’d have to become a Slumdog Millionaire to afford it.

Style Icon of the moment has to be Michelle Obama the new American presidents wife. Talk about being under the spotlight, Whenever I have seen her she always looks immaculately dressed, and her shoulder length layered bob suits her so well. I can see the cut being an in demand favourite. I think her style and dress sense strikes just the right note she’s not a celebrity she is the wife of the most powerful man in the world and so her appearance has to be smart but restrained and statesman like, She has to look good but not over the top, it’s a feat she has got just right.

This week’s holiday hotspot is Mexico everyone want’s to go…

Favourite TV advertisement T -Mobile the flash dance mob in the railway station everyone’s talking about it.
