This week everyone has been commenting on how good Gwyneth Paltrow looks on the cover of this month’s Elle. Her hair is a striking blonde colour and the cut in a disconnected bob, she looks really fresh and lots of clients have been asking could they have their hair like that or some variation. I think it’s the fashion cut of the moment, and could be as popular as the Jennifer Aniston cut of a few years ago. Everyone looks for inspiration from magazines and they are a great source of finding your own cover girl look.
Another source of inspiration for lots of clients and a big talking point is Coleen’s Real women back on TV this week. Coleen has been proving that potential cover girls are everywhere not just on the streets of London. Lots of girls have the looks to be the next Kate Moss they just need a little direction. We see lots of fantastic looking clients in the salon who could be walking down the catwalks of Milan and Paris they just need to be spotted and shown how. We use lots of our clients as models for shows and photo shoots and they always look fantastic. The other week we had a visit form the General manager of L’Oreal. He spotted one of our clients and asked if she was a professional model when we told him she was still at school, He couldn’t believe it and said she looked like a Paris catwalk model and would be snapped up by an agency in London. When we told the girl she was flattered but wasn’t interested.
Last week Coleen had to find a potential cover girl for a major campaign for Beaverbrooks. Some of the girls were stunning and after a makeover and a little bit of direction they were as good as any of the other professional models who were at the casting. The girl who was chosen was one of Coleen’s real women and she looked fantastic. What most people forget is that there are all kinds of models not just the stick thin catwalk type. From catalogue to TV commercials even hand or leg models, you just have to find your niche. One of the great thing about shows like Coleen’s real women is that everyone has an opinion on what their idea of what a model should look like and who should win. The one thing most clients did agree on though is that Coleen has found her niche and she’s doing a good job.
The final bits of Concourse House were pulled down last week. It may have been a bit of an eye saw to some but it was our home for fifteen years and we had lots of happy memories of our former salon. Loads of clients have been reminding us over the last few weeks of the great times we had there. Even though I’m sad to see the building go, We are only a few yards away in Northwestern Halls and The new plans for the front of the station look fantastic. Visitors to the city are going to have a great first impression when they get off the train.
Maybe it’s the bad weather but everyone is talking about good DVD’s they’ve seen lately and the most watched film of the moment is ‘ Taken’ starring Liam Neeson,
It’s fantastic American girl gets kidnapped in Paris but the bad guys don’t know her Dad was an ex- spy!! Dad comes to get her back. Next time it’s cold and wet on theirs nothing on TV rent it out it’s brilliant!
