Always our fashion icon David Beckham
Everyone has been talking fashion this week, we’ve just had London fashion week and this week it’s Liverpool’s turn. Liverpool fashion week may not be in the same league as the capitals just yet, but give it time and it could be a rival.
Lisa and Andrea from the salon worked at some of the biggest fashion shows in London last week including the Aquascutum centenary show and Sienna Millers sister’s twenty eight twelve show. With up to five shows a day the pace is fast and furious and with some shows having a call time of six AM and ending at eleven PM theirs not much time for enjoying the after shows parties. These A-list celebrity events are to showcase the latest in British fashion and the hairdressers who work on these shows have to be at their best, as the eyes of the fashion world are centred on London. An in - perfect hair-up or an out of place curl is seized upon with as much fury as busted zip. The girls could tell you some stories about the back stage tantrums, which are a feature of what for some designers are highly traumatic occasions.
Liverpool’s fashion glitterati aren’t in the same league as Alexander McQueen or Henry Holland just yet, but they have to start somewhere so events like Liverpool Fashion week can be a stepping-stone to greater things, and we should applaud the organizers for getting Liverpool on the fashion map.
It’s not just designers who are making their name in Liverpool. We’ve had lots of models in the salon lately doing work for one of Britain’s hottest new Photographers Ian Cole. Ian is from Liverpool but works primarily for New York based magazines and Fashion TV channels. Recently Ian’s been doing a lot of work in Liverpool which means lots of catwalk superstars male and female have been making their way to the city and turning up at the salon to have their hair done. Last week we had a model fly in from Milan come to the salon have his hair cut by Christina then do a photo shoot at The Hard days Night Hotel with Ian then fly off that night to New York, Nice work if you can get it!
It’s tells you what a cosmopolitan city we live in these days when some of the Major gripes this week have been about the exchange rates. The dollar is worth about seventy-five pence and the Euro is almost the same as a pound. How long before we have to take euros as part of our everyday currency?
Everyone is talking about how it’s going to cost a pound to use the toilets on Ryan air that’s more than the price of some its flights!
Hot ticket this week Cirque du Soleil – Quidam, Clients say it was amazing! Favourite TV ad for Adidas featuring David Beckham and a host of stars almost makes you want to go out and get fit! Everybody’s new favourite restaurant Zeligs in Liverpool 1.
