Salon Talk 13th March

Fern Before and After

The big windows of the salon have given us all kinds of entertainment this week from watching a film crew shoot scene’s for the new John Lennon movie on the steps of Saint Georges Hall to a helping with a stunt an advertising company did for Virgin Rail using the big interactive billboard screen opposite Lime street Station, they asked if one of their team could sit in our window and by using the internet they connected up to the screen and typed in messages to unsuspecting passers by. They then filmed their reactions for a television commercial. As the person they had chosen walked underneath the screen they had a big arrow pointing down on them and it moved along with a suitable message above. It was very funny.

This week we seem to have been doing a lot of talking about communications and technology. Somebody asked me if we twittered last week, I just gave them a funny look and wondered what they were talking about. I found out that Twitter is the latest thing in social networking alongside websites Face Book and My Space it’s how we are all supposed to communicate these days. I have just about got the hang of texting so sitting in front of a computer screen and telling everybody I have just had a cup of tea or I am watching Hollyoaks doesn’t seem that important but Twitter is the must have communication tool of the week.

We had a big discussion in the salon this week about another form of technology a ‘ Kettle’ One of the staff claimed that their friend had a kettle that could boil cold water in three seconds! We couldn’t believe it and then they claimed you could have ice-cold water from boiled in the same amount of time. Impossible we all said but amazingly it’s true! I was all for buying one until someone said they cost about eighty five pounds, I think I’ll make do with our old kettle and wait that extra couple of minutes or maybe wait a couple of months until Tesco bring out a version in their value range for about four ninety nine.

Everyone was saying how nice the new John Lewis department store in Liverpool One looked all dressed up for Easter. They really seemed to have made the effort and it makes Easter something to look forward too.

The fashion styles of the eighties and fluorescent colours are starting to become more apparent with the first flushes of spring in the air. A client had a bright yellow coat on the other day it looked so fresh and colourful, and was the envy of the staff.

If you can’t get tickets for the real thing then a good copy will have to do. The staff all went to see Michael Jackson’s show Thriller at the Empire. A great start with the early Jackson five hits a laboured middle bit but a great ending with Billy Jean and Thriller verdict a top ten hit.

Favourite look of the week is Fern Britton from Good Morning, Lost the weight got some dress sense and now got a good haircut and colour. Lot of people have been admiring Fern and her hit haircut.

Everyone Loved Keith Lemon and Paddy McGuiness on Comic Relief Celebrity Dancing show doing time of my life from Dirty Dancing. But Robert Webb doing Flash Dance was a little bit to good.

Got to go and see Film of the week then Grand Torino with Clint Eastwood has been described as Brilliant by everyone who has seen it. Young Victoria was disappointing.

Their can be no off days when your Victoria Beckham lots of clients were talking about the Terrible pictures of Victoria Beckham in the papers this week showing off her very thin neck. I’m sure it was just the camera angle but it didn’t look very good.
