We love big hair in the salon but Chantal Biya the wife of the president of the Cameroon was a weft to far. Theirs big hair and theirs enormous hair. Nobody liked the idea of having her as a weekly blow dry client.
Our favourite programme Embarrassing bodies was in Liverpool this week focusing on a subject dear to all our hearts shoes. Doctor Christian was trying to convince us about the dangers of wearing high heels – sorry but all the scary x- rays anecdotes and experts in the world are not going to convince our staff that flats are better than Christian Louboutain red heels or YSL tributes.
There is an urgent shortage of blonde models the papers said this week, which led to an awful lot of highlights and bleach being used. Seems that the recession credit crunch dowdy look is over, magazines want bleach blondes and blue eyed models to brighten us all up and to make us all feel good about ourselves. It only takes a few sunny days and the sun kissed blonde look becomes a demand. The sun starts to shine and suddenly everyone wants to be a blonde.
The salons top minds debated the following hot topics this week. Who was Charlie Chaplin and looked blankly at me when I told them he was in silent films and which is the best butter? Utterly butterly got terrible reviews but Lurpak came out on top. Why do they never discuss subjects like this on BBC Question Time
Everyone was impressed this week by one of the girls who is taking cookery lessons it was a roast last week and lasagne and sticky toffee pudding next. Everyone thought it was a nice way to spend an evening, When I was young cookery or home economics was part of the curriculum my speciality was apple crumble sadly I never really moved on from that.
I ordered a muffin for my breakfast when I read the headlines on a magazine cover this week ‘Skinny is Over’. This was one story we all wanted to talk about.
One person who was not celebrating this week was Ricky Hattons girlfriend Jennifer Dooley the pictures of her looking distraught after her boyfriend was knocked out had everyone talking. That punch was brutal. Nobody wants to see their boyfriend in that state.
The pictures of Madelaine McCann as she may look now and the documentary about her disappearance, reminded everyone about how terrible her disappearance was. We all talked about it for a few days then moved on sadly for the McCann family that isn’t so easy.
Football is so popular at the moment, who’d have thought that Barcelona scoring a goal in the ninety third minute would have everyone talking in the salon. So was The fifteen thousand pound Mobile phone with the LFC crest on it the big question was can you get one on pay as you go.
