The queen of Glunge Glamour Alexa Chung
Our favourite word this week is ‘Glunge’ glamour crossed with grunge. It’s were you mix pieces of designer clothing with things that you’ve picked it up at a charity shop or found in your nans wardrobe Kate Moss or Alexa Chung are masters of the ‘Glunge’ look. They take bits and pieces that look mismatched and shouldn’t work and turn them into some amazing fashion statement Everyone has been saying how they wished they could just pull off that kind of thrown together look . I had to laugh because looks like this are far from just thrown together. It takes a good eye for fashion and a sense of style to make this kind of look work otherwise it’s just grunge . I’d like to see Kate or Alexa’s bedroom before they leaves for their next engagement. I’m sure the floor is filled with disgarded clothes.
It’s not only in clothes were Glunge is a big hit. A ‘Glunge hairstyle is the seasons big hair story. That understated almost done it yourself look is one of the seasons key trends. It may look like a rough cut or style but it has been very carefully crafted. From the understated yet precise colouring technique which gives hints of colour and look’s amazing to the perfect haircut styled with just enough product for effect. The trend used to be when somebody had their hair cut or coloured it had to be bold and standout, You had to know they’d had their hair done. Now the trend is towards more subtle cuts and colouring bold is out and subtle is in.

This weeks must have fashion fix is a denim jacket. Andrea had me around all of the shops this weekend trying to find the perfect battered denim jacket to wear over that other fashion must have of the week a play suit. We visited all the Vintage shops in town as we call them these days. They’re not called second hand shops anymore but they are the perfect place to to find that other word of our times a ‘retro’ classic. I love ‘charity shops’ and they’ve never been busier according to the papers this week.
Took one of our clients advice and went to see the This is Sculpture exhibition at the Tate this week. What a great day. Who new sculpture could be so interesting? So much to see we only had time to see half of the exhibits. Definitely advise everyone to go and take a look.
Nobody in the salon has ever put a price on their handbags like Victoria Beckham has. The papers this week said the value of her hand bag collection was one and half million pounds, and the top price bag she had was £80,000! Big mistake everyone says you should never tell your other half how much you pay for bags or shoes.
