Salon Talk 4th July

There’s only been one story in town this week and its Michael Jackson. It’s literally off the wall! His life his death and everything in between has been discussed from loving him as a child to when he went weird to his lifestyle and his kids, We loved hearing all his songs and had a poll of our favourites Man in the Mirror came out tops followed by Thriller but after two days of none stop Michael Jackson we all got bored with the whole thing and everyone said enough is enough, time for a bit of perspective on it all we think.

Swine Flu parties have you ever heard the likes, I couldn’t believe it. To build up imunity supposedly, how silly.

Everyone was complaining about the heat last week. It was too hot!! Then we all got caught out by the torrential rain on Sunday so everyone complained again. We are having the weirdest weather at the moment. In our ideal world we want is the sun to shine when we are on holiday but when we are at work we are happy for it to be grey and overcast with maybe a hint of sun around lunch time,the last thing we want is a hot muggy days, Is that to much to ask.

All this hot weather is making a ‘Staycation’ this year’s trend to stay at home and holiday rather than go abroad even more appealing. Especially as this year the number one holiday spoiler seems to be Jet lag. The idea of long distance romantic holidays sound s great but loads of people have come back after a break hoping they’d be all refreshed but instead are shattered their body clock is all over the place and they feel terrible. They all complain they need a break.

We are all disappointed that Farrah Fawcett didn’t get the recognition she deserved after she died last week. Ask anyone who was around in the seventies what their favourite hairstyles were and a guarantee that one of the choices would be Farrah’s iconic California beach babe look Her summer golden hairstyle is a timeless classic and is still as much in demand now as it was when it first came out. When ever I think of a summer hairstyle its always Farrah Fawcett in her Charlies Angels days and that’s as nice as way to be remembered as any other.

Cinema this week and we are loving Johnnie Depp in Public Enimee’s Cameron Diaz in My Sisters Keeper which is a major weepie. But for a really good laugh it has to be the Hangover. We went to see it last week and thought it was hilarious, but its definitely not for the easily offended.

Who new how popular horse riding was several of the girls go riding and once they start talking about it their horses and horsey things their worse than football fans!!

Somebody has found this great website called whatkatiewore.com. It was set up by the boyfriend of a girl called Katie because he thought she was so stylish and he puts up a new picture of what she is wearing on the site everyday, what’s great about the site is Katie has great dress sense and she gives you loads of ideas especially as she mixes vintage and new clothes together. Apart from it being a great website isn’t the fact that your boyfriend is so proud of you they have gone to so much trouble a lovely thing to do, The general feeling however was that nobody thought their partner would do anything so romantic.

Carlie Zucker the new Mrs Joe Cole set everyone off this week when she announced a week after her wedding that she will no longer be working as it’s a distraction for her footballer husband. Her ideas got mixed reactions some were envious and would love the opportunity to not work, but the majority liked the independence of having a job. Question everyone wants to know was who’se idea was it and she decide before or after the wedding that it would be a good idea.

Some of us loved what Dawn French said this week about her weight issues she said it doesn’t bother her as she has body blindness. We all want to know were we can order a pair of her rose tinted glasses.

Celebrities having babies seems to be one of those box ticking things at the moment Maddonna and Angelina Jollie seem to pick up a new baby every couple of months. One of the major talking points of Michael Jackson’s death were his children and this week everyone was talking about how Sarah Jessica Parker has just taken possession of twins via a surrogate mother. I’m sure their intentions are all honourable, but it Just seems like for celebrities its something to do.

This week Cameron who works in Our Lime street salon was proudly showing off her beautiful new daughter. Nothing brings out the love and the smiles as much as when there is a new baby in the salon they make everyone happy and you just can’t beat that feeling, they also make everyone want one.
