Salon Talk 14th July

We’re talking fashion and models this week. And everyone is talking about Bruno the Movie. Sasha Baron Cohen, who we all loved as Borat takes humiliating himself and unsuspecting members of the public to new levels that had us all shocked. The sheer nerve of the man to do some of the things he does. I thought you only wanted to hide behind the sofa when you watched a scary movie but Bruno’s antics has the same effect. It makes the Excorsist look tame.

Britains Next Top Model reached its conclusion and everyone agreed that although she was lovely it was the right thing that Jade the super skinny girl who had had an eating disorder in the past didn’t win. It would have sent out the wrong message about super thin being a requirement of being a successful model. Her pictures may have been amazing but her real life skeleton frame was wrong in so many ways. But the nature of the fashion industry means that Jade will be a very successful model and will get lots of work and so will Mecia the winner who blossomed as the competition went on, and we all agreed deserved to win.

Our final brush with fashion this week was a photo shoot for OK magazine with Justine Mills from Cricket and Sherree Murphy. and featured Stella McCartney’s winter collection. Lisa and Lynsey from the salon had the brief to create six very different looks for Sheree’s hair and the result which you’ll soon see were fantastic.

Working with Justine and her team makes you realise what a national institution Cricket has become. It’s trade mark brand is recognised everywhere you go. And it’s unique to Liverpool so aren’t we lucky!

We got a phone call the other day from a client ‘Sorry I’m going to have cancel my appointment today as a crane has crashed through my roof and I have to sort out a few things this morning’ Some thing have take priority over getting your hair done!

Some people who won’t be making the next series of Britain’s next top Model or appearing in OK magazine are the people who appear on our most favourite and most talked about TV programme Channel 4’s Most embarrassing ……. Which is beyond embarrassing, so why do I sky plus it?

Some of our clients were heading off to the festival of the summer this weekend. Forget Glastonbury, Bennicassim in Spain, is the one to go too now.

Why does Jordan think we want to know her side of her break up with Peter Andrea, does she think anybody is really that interested. Nobody we know was.

Charm necklaces are this week’s must have fashion accessory.

Everyone is talking about the new Thai restaurant in Liverpool One. Clients say the food is gorgeous and the design is spectacular. Especially the fish tank in the toilets. Can’t wait to go.

Favourite summer holiday reads Testimony by Anita Shreeve, is un put downable and Outliers by Malcom Gladwell will make you think.

Very.co is the fashion website everyone’s logging onto this week. The likes of Fearn Cotton Peaches Geldof and Trinnie and Suzzanne have put their own super fashion sense into designing clothes for us mortals and this site features their work. I took a look at it but was disappointed.
