Should you have your holiday photos airbrushed is the big talking point in the salon this week, now that one of the high street shops is offering this service. The reaction from most of the staff was they loved the idea of no more bumps or blemishes others thought maybe it should just be for special occasions, but generally everyone welcomed the idea. I think we always like to be seen at our best and love to have perfect pictures but for me the best photos are when they capture the moment warts and all.
But do we really want to live in the virtual world were everything is perfect and everything is make believe it seems like some of the celebrities do. I thought about this when I saw the pictures of Sharon Stone on the front cover of a French magazine this week. Sharon is fifty and to show how good she thinks she looks she did a topless shoot. The picture was worthy of any page three but how much was her and how much was down to photo shop jiggery pokery. Their is no denying Sharon Stone looks good for her age but not that good. Even the most pampered of celebrities start to wear and tear after a bit, The problem is that some magazines just don’t like to show it. A great example of this is Kate Moss she’s on the cover of Septembers Vogue, and everyone agrees she look stunning and yet in the papers last week there was a recent holiday photo of her with the headline why does Kate look so haggard? bet she wished she’d gone to super snaps! Who’s kidding who is what we want to know.
Talking of magazine covers this month there are some great pictures that everyone is loving and being inspired by pick of the bunch is Eva Mendez and Diane Kruger who both look stunning. And a face from the past who seems to be turning up everywhere lately Anna Friel she is definitely flavour of the month with loads of magazines. And finally hasn’t Susan Boyle done well all made over and on the cover of Tatler
Robbie Williams has been mentioned a lot this week by everyone. He’s got a new look for his comeback and its very smart and sophisticated, Somebody else with a new look and who has everyone talking is David Beckham he has gone for a very masculine new hairstyle. His hair is razor cut short at the back and sides and heavy but styled on top. He looks like he has taken a lead from Brad Pitts clipped army officer look from his new Quentin Tarrantino film which is out this week . One thing you can be sure of is that David Beckham is a trend setter and if he’s going for this look then everyone will be following. It tells me the groomed look for men is going to be a big story over the coming months.
The bride looked like a princess but the groom looked like the toad waiting to be kissed that’s what everyone thought of the pictures of Rachel Stevens and her new husband Alex Bourne. What was he thinking a stubbley chin on his wedding day. Nobody could believe it! If theirs one day when the man has to go for a classic look its his wedding day. The groom like the bride has to make the effort the designer stubble may look good for everyday but a big part of the wedding is the photographs and the groom needs to look as clean and fresh as the bride. No amount of airbrushing is going to hide that dirty looking chin. The pictures made him look like he needed a wash poor Rachel can she ever forgive him, we wouldn’t.
Now we all know that Mark Lester really would do anything for his best friend Michael Jackson nobody could deny that his daughter and Michaels looked uncannily similar.
I have asked everyone in the salon and nobody will own up to demanding that Selfridges start putting out their Christmas decorations now. So who was it? We don’t know anybody do you.
One of the girls daughters was graduating this week not from university but from nursery. It’s graduation for pre schoolers now with caps and gowns and scrolls of achievement. How cute.
