Spot the supermodel....
This week some of our team have been styling the hair at London Fashion week. One of the most important events of the year for fashion industry and which this year is celebrating its twenty fifth anniversary. We’ve been working at some of the hot ticket shows including Fashion Fringe hosted by Donnatella Versace and showcasing the top new talent in the fashion industry. And the show of the week Twenty eight Twelve featuring the work of Siena and Savannah Miller, this really was the Celebrity A list event of fashion week, and the show to be seen at. The theme for the spring summer 2010 collections seems to be back to the nineties glamour and the return of the supermodel. One of the things that the girls noticed about the shows they’ve worked at was the designers have kept to their pledge to use normal healthy looking models rather than the waiffer thin girls of the past I was going to say they are using bigger girls but their not their just using regular size models, girls size 10 12’s and above have looked great strutting down the catwalks.
If your looking for a hint that fashion is heading back to the nineties and super models watch the latest TV advertisement for D&G perfume it has Claudia Schiffer Naomi Cambell, and Eva Hertzogovina and features the music of George Michael
As this week we have all been talking about fashion how apt that Paris Hilton a well known clothes horse grabbed our attention with her inclusion in of all things the Oxford book of quotations. Her contribution - ‘Dress cute where ever you go. Life’s to short to blend in’ was quite astute It’s always the people who dress a little different or who make that little bit more of an effort who tend to be the most memorable.
Nobody liked the orange print dress Victoria Beckham was wearing in all the papers last week, It was from her latest collection, but I don’t think many from the salon will be rushing out to buy it. But we did like that Cheryl Cole has taken our advice from a few weeks ago and has gone for a more edgy image.
We all rushed home to watch either Strictly Come Dancing or the X Factor this weekend or should we say to see who looked better Cheryl Cole or Aleshia Dixon. Nobody could agree so as Harry Hill would say only one way to find out FIGHT!!
No doubt who the winner in the style stakes was this weekend Strictly’s Ali Bastion who used to be Becca in Hollyoaks she looked gorgeous.
Our favourite TV this week Living Tv’s Dating in the Dark it does what is says in the titles the couples meet in a pitch black room and they get to know each other without actually seeing one and other, its supposed to be about personality rather than looks, but when the lights come on if their not a looker generally they get dumped, such is life.
Someone asked me if I’d ever have a muffin chop last week I thought they were suggesting something for lunch turns out its having the band of fat on your tummy removed.
Big hit this weekend - The Hope Street food festival
Speaking of food I was lucky enough to be invited to a charity dinner at Knowsley Hall last week. Oh my what a place. I felt like lloyd Grossman off the TV show Through the Keyhole, I heard a voice in my head saying ‘Who lives in a house like this….lets look at the clues pictures of racehorses all over the walls family portraits going back to the middle ages the stool that the seventh earl knelt on as he was beheaded…. It was amazing and to think that its still someone’s home.
This week everyone has been wearing blazers. And shopping at the new Top Shop
