salon Talk 9th October

Celebrity Roller Girls

It seems the world is still obsessed with the so called Liverpool phenomenon of ‘girls in rollers’. We have been asked by Five News to do a special feature on the subject on one of its shows this week. Londoners it seems are fascinated by the idea of girls walking around the shops with there hair in rollers. I don’t know why they think it’s a new thing, I remember my mum having her curlers in every weekend when I was younger. Which just goes to show, that hair with body and movement, has never gone out of fashion? A good set saves time and means your style will last longer. And as for shopping in your rollers, well I call that multi-tasking!

Talking about big hair the Quiff is back in fashion. Tess Daly rocked a roll on this weeks strictly come dancing. Whilst Rhianna looked fab with a more fifties take on the look too. And current chart act La Roux’s signature Quiff is very wearable and glam. I love a good Quiff it’s a style that will definitely get you noticed, great for a party or event. It can be a difficult look to pull off though, so it’s important to get the right balance of bold and soft. If the make-up isn’t right it can end up looking too severe and quite masculine. Still I think we are going to be seeing a lot of these strong looks around this season so get ready for some high hair.

One of this weeks hot topics in the salon has been Cheryl Cole’s tattoo the one on the side of her hand it’s a little squiggle it looks like she’s spilt ink and hasn’t noticed, once you get onto it its really annoying.

Favourite celebrity odd couple this week are Russell Brand and Katie Perry or ‘Rusty’ as the magazines are calling them. Its love says Russell, but how long will it last we are asking, we give it about a week at most.

Robbie Williams, sorry but everyone thinks he’s lost his X- Factor. He’s like a tribute act to himself now.

Everyone thinks Gok Wan is far too smug and condescending these days. Its all about the over confidence now

Anna Friel looking very glamorous wherever she goes, she’s got herself a 40’s inspired wardrobe to compliment her appearing in Breakfast at Tiffany’s in the west end. She looks fab.

The craze for lace tights are definitely not for everyone, on the wrong person they can make you look like you’ve got tree trunks for legs.

Charms bracelets are really big at the moment, now I know why people think they are lucky because when you’re stuck for a present to buy remember you can never have enough charms.

Love Happens and the Soloist where the big films this week. Pity love only happens to Jennifer Aniston in her films how sad to read in the papers every week that she’s been dumped again. And the Soloist fell asleep after the first five minutes and woke up at the end to find I didn’t miss a thing.

The nominations for the Turner Prize for art where announced this week, sorry but a pile of dust is not art if it was then the front of Lime Street station where our old salon used to be would be classed as outdoor gallery.
