Salon Talk 20th November

Beyonce's back in Town

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas or so the song goes. The lights went up on Saint George’s Hall this week and all over town festive features are beginning to appear. We are getting our salon decorations next week and before we know it we’ll have Christmas songs on the Ipod. The big question we are all asking each other is what do you want for Christmas. Amongst the more unusual requests which are on Santa’s list this year are paying to have their teeth filled. A twelve month bus pass, and a year long pre-paid prescription,

The big dilemma is should you buy early to avoid disappointment or wait until the week before when the sales all start and save money.

On the back of last week’s big Euro lottery win the staff have started our own lottery syndicate. Not wanting to miss out I have joined. I said jokingly that I was worried that if we did scoop a fortune everyone would leave, however I have been re-assured that if they do win most of the staff will stay at the salon because if its only something like a million then that’s nothing these days and won’t go very far!

Beyonce waltzed back into town last week and everybody wanted to go and see her. We had a mad Wednesday with everyone having their hair done as if it was a Saturday night. Those that didn’t see her last time thought she was amazing the ones who saw her first time around thought she was good but were a little bit disappointed because it was the same show and theirs nothing like seeing someone for the first time. Everyone who also saw Pink twice this year said the same thing. Biggest disappointment of the night was their was no support act rumour was it was supposed to be Alexandra Burke and everyone got there early but she didn’t show and lots of people were standing around from six o’clock when the doors opened until nine when Beyonce came on stage.

I was surprised when I saw a photograph of a model smoking in a photo shoot this week, Its such a rare thing to see anyone smoking in public these days. It was a fashion feature for French Grazia magazine so of course it made the girl look very chic and cool. I think here in Britain we’ve gotten used to the smoking ban now and even though its not perfect and not everybody agrees with it. The memory of coming home and your clothes smelling of stale tobacco even when you don’t smoke means it Wasn’t a bad thing. I think most people would agree that smoking only looks cool in photographs these days.

My favourite story this week from the salon was from the client who buys Kerestase Oleo Relax shampoo for her Horse. She says its perfect for detangleing her horses main and gives it a healthy shine. She says she doesn’t use it all the time just when she’s competing in shows and wants her horse to look particularly good!

Everyone was loving the boxing last week David Hay is officially the salon pin up boy but the big sporting event everyone wants tickets for next is the Darts at the Arena in the Spring!!

Nobody thinks Jordan going back to the jungle is a good idea, give somebody else a go.

Leona Lewis is appearing at the Liverpool Arena next year but nobody is rushing to buy tickets. Everyone says she’s got a great voice but think she’s a bit dull and so will her show.
