Salon Talk 4th December

Everyone has been complaining this week about the distinct lack of variety in clothes in the shops at the moment. Trying to find something that nobody else has is becoming more and more difficult. I went shopping last week looking for something and came away feeling very uninspired. That was until I saw Lily Allen on the Children in need Concert last week. She was wearing a very understated little black dress. Granted it was Channel but it could have been any make. It was so refreshing to see something so simple yet so striking. The LBD is one of those so called capsule dresses that Gok Wan would say should be a staple of any wardrobe. They are perfect for most occasions and means that instead of looking for a new dress every time you go out you are just looking for a few accessories and a new hairstyle to compliment it, which is a lot easier than walking round the shops looking for something thatnobody else has got.

Everyone thought town was crazy busy this weekend and it’s still only the beginning of December, I think there’s going to be plenty more days like that to come. But I heard this week that the busiest day of the shopping year is going to be Christmas day! The papers are saying that more money is spent shopping on the internet on Christmas day than any other day of the year. How sad. I like the idea of shopping without the queues but sitting front of a computer on Christmas day buying stuff is no fun at all.

Lots of people are asking if we are open on Boxing Day. And we have to disappoint them and say no. After a busy Christmas we have to give the staff some time of to recharge the batteries and enjoy their Christmas break just like everyone else.

Katie Price wants to get back with Peter, who’d have thought it

Someone asked me what I thought of Helen Chambers from Soccer AM’s new short hairstyle this week, and I had to say I was disappointed with it. It looks so wrong and yet it with a bit of thought this style could be so right for her. She’s wearing it far to straight and theirs not enough texture in the cut, She’s using the wrong products, so its not styled properly. All little things that could so easily be corrected, every week she seems to be tweaking it to try and get it right, but rather than make it better it seems to be getting worse. I’m a great lover of shorter hairstyles cut well and with the right colour they can look fab, but Sorry Helen but you’ve scored an own goal with this look and you need to red card your stylist.

Peter Kaye is back on tour and everyone was disappointed, when as expected the tickets sold out in minutes. Everyone hopes he adds a few more dates and they include Liverpool

We went to see the new Twighlight film New Moon this week and two things happened which made me smile. When it began there was a squeal of anticipation from the audience and then in the final scene everyone let out a loud gasp of surprise. No I won’t spoil it and tell you why go and see it and find out. But I was telling the staff because I thought it was funny, thinking this reaction only happened at the performance we went too but speaking to everyone it happens at every show.

The other film everyone is talking about is Harry Brown, very good but very sad was the verdict. Hurray everyone said this week when they saw Gavin and Stacey was back with a new series.

Scrooge at the Empire was a big hit with all the clients who went and must have been packed out every day judging by the number of coaches outside.
