Salon Talk 19th December

Its all about the Christmas rush now, everyone wants to look good get dressed up and have a good time, but as for buying Christmas presents. It looks like most people can wait for the sales

Retro seems to be the thing this year all things old fashioned and festive. Everyone is talking about real trees, decorations and all things homely I had a lovely afternoon walking around John Lewis looking at all the Christmas things, They had lots of old fashioned toys and games which made me feel all nostalgic. I especially loved one of jigsaws which was a picture of all the old chocolate bars you used to be able to buy in the days before my body became a temple. I loved the picture but wouldn’t have had the patience to put the thousand pieces together. They also had all these lovely box sets of jams, oils chocolates and of course luxury hampers. It was such a change from looking a skirts shirts and jumpers. It did put me in the Christmas spirit.

So many people have come into the salon and complained about how over stuffed all the shops are racks full to the brim clothes piled high yet nothing in the size you want and all encouraging you to spend spend spend. There is one shop that deserves special mention this week and everyone is talking about it, it’s in Liverpool One Its only new and its called Holisters, You may stumbled across it or you may have just walked past, but Its worth going in to just to see what you cant see. The clever people who designed it have decided that rather than being bright bold and in your face they would be dark subdued and ultra cool. Set out like a colonial living room, with armchairs and coffee tables. The shop is almost pitch black apart from the selected clothes which are under spotlights. It reminded me of one of those episodes of Most Haunted where Yvette is walking around in the near dark, I half expected a someone to jump out and scare me and eventually somebody did, I Think it was a sales assistant. Its all very clever and very cool shame of it is you can’t see anything, My advice if you want to shop there and they do stock Abercrombie and Fitch so it will be popular, is take a torch.

Speaking of torches my favourite gift idea for the week is the lip gloss from Gosh with little bulbs in the handle so it illuminates your lips as you are applying, everyone wants one

The ad that is catching everyones eye at the moment features French actress Audrey Tattou for Chanel no.5, she looks gorgeous but everyone wants to know why she looks so sad its supposed to be Christmas.

Gavin and Stacey this week somebody asked for a drink of half tea half coffee called it a toffee, how many people have secretly tried it.

Everyone was talking about Lady Ga Ga on the Xfactor last week her performance had everyone wanting to book tickets to see her at the Arena next year. Unfortunately it was to late she sold out as soon as it was announced she was on, now those with tickets can’t wait to see what she’ll do in a proper full on stage show.

Some other shows that its going to be difficult to get tickets for are Peter Pan at the Empire. Lime street is crazy busy every afternoon and the Thirty Nine steps at the Playhouse. I’ve been told its one of those plays that once you’ve seen it you want to tell everyone to go and see it its that good.

Strangest request of the week can we style the wig Les Dennis is wearing in Peter Pan. He asked us do a big roller set, and leave the rollers in because he wants his character to look like a ‘proper scouse bird’
