Salon Talk 18th January

Victoria Beckham our favourite either as a blonde or a brunette

We did a poll recently on hairdressing icons of the decade Those celebrities who had set the hair trends over the last ten years. Top of list and the winner by a mile was Victoria Beckham from long to short blonde to black she’s done it all to her hair. Whenever she’s changed her hairstyle it makes the news. She was without doubt the hair inspiration everyone looked to in the noughties. Other celebs who contributed to great hairstyles in the the last decade were Cheryl Cole Rhianna Sienna Miller and Agness Deyn and Scarlett Johanson. I wonder how many will be appearing on the list in another ten years.

We always spend a lot of time at the beginning of the year going through all the fashion trend predictions and thinking of new hair styles we think will compliment them. So recently I’ve been working in the Barbara Daley Laboratories here in Lime Street with our team experimenting and formulating new ideas. The process begins by creating mood boards of all the trends It so much easier when all the collections are set out in front of you. From there we choose some of the key looks we want to develop then talk about new colour techniques and fresh hairstyles that we think will compliment them. Once we are all agreed which are key looks for the season we present them to the rest of the staff, and then in turn to you when you come into the salon, and say I’m thinking of doing something with my hair….. When I’m doing things like this it makes me realise why I love hairdressing so much

For all those girls who say they can’t find Mr right worry no more the papers are saying there is a shortage of women in China. Men are outnumbering women 4 to 1. Maybe forget Ibiza this summer and spread your travel wings if you are looking for a new man. Or perhaps Easyjet or Ryanair should think about introducing a new route to Shanghai

In Japan someone has just paid one hundred and ten thousand pounds for a tuna I usually pay about sixty pence for my tin. The restauranter who bought it said he bought it to bring him luck I think the only lucky person is the one who sold the fish to him in the first place.

Can’t say anyone fancies the latest bit of merchandising from Liverpool football club it’s their own branded perfume its called L4 her ….mmmm the great smell of Anfield I don’t think so.

Has anyone else thought that they may be a bit of dancing over kill going on at the moment with Got to dance, Dancing on Ice, So you think you can dance, and Strictly come dancing on tour.

Still recovering from Christmas overspend and we’ve been staying in watching lots of TV. Everyone is loving the new series ‘Glee’ on channel 4 If you enjoy the kind of show where geeks make good and sing cheesey pop tunes then you’ll love this. And if you liked The Office then Modern Family on sky1 is another show that has had us all laughing.

Loving the website iwantoneofthose.com my favourite thing I saw was a digital fridge magnet it’s a little camera and you can record a message up to 30 seconds long. No more scrambling around looking for a pen and a piece of paper, when you want to leave a note.
