Salon Talk 27th January

Endangered species Save the WAG's

Wags are dead said one magazine this week reflecting on the fact that the days of being known for only being the wife or girlfriend of a footballer or a celebrity are over as lots of them have their own careers these days, and don’t want to be tagged with the title. And so we are supposed to move on just like that. I don’t think so. If wags are dead then who do we get our inspiration from who is going to fill the pages of our favourite magazines and who are we going to talk about and copy when we next go shopping. Wags play an important part in our lives they do a public service to keep us all stylish and we have to fight to keep them. Wags are part of our heritage now and we cannot let them just fade away. Some institutions are too important to let go without a fight. Let’s keep the wag we all say.

I’ve never liked the idea of a tattoo they are too permanent for my liking, But I can see the attraction of one if it’s done tastefully. A second maybe a little risqué but when does it become a little bit tacky. Getting a tattoo to celebrate an occasion seems to be the latest fad. David Beckham has filled what must be the last remaining bit of free space on his body with another tattoo in memory of his grandfather and on a fine physique like his he can get away with it. But what happens when his looks go west and his waste goes south maybe it won’t be so pretty then.

Channel are bringing out a range of temporary tattoo’s or transfers as they like to call them to cash in on the demand. They say there’s a waiting list for them and they are going to be a fashion must. Have, in the salon there’s a mixed reaction to Tattoo’s some love them others think their terrible. I always like to think Tattoo’s are like dogs you get them for life not just for your birthday.

The papers having been trying to tell us this week tat the male equivalent of Sharon Stone is Alec Baldwin (not to be confused with his younger and slightly stranger little brother Stephen who is making a name for himself in the Big Brother House) Alec star of the hit movie of the week Its Complicated has been described as a HOF or hot over fifty. Now Alec may be a nice man charming and good looking in an over fifty nearer to sixty type of way but Hot we don’t think so the only thing that makes him look hot is his blood pressure.

We have all been shocked by what has happened in Haiti this week the speed and the devastation has made us all realise how lucky we are here. We had a few days of snow and the country ground to a halt how would we cope in a disaster on that kind of level.

Our trendsetter of the week is Daisy Low. She’s been in lots of magazines this week; she has that universal dishevelled look that everyone wants. Her look was best summed up in one magazine that said she sells clothes better than anyone else of her generation. And that’s why her pictures are everywhere.

Everyone is complaining about the potholes that the bad weather seems to have left behind. Lots of roads seem to have these huge craters in them and loads of people have damaged their cars from falling into these massive holes that seem to be everywhere.

The closer you are to something the les you see I found this out this week when we had our big annual team meeting in the Saint Georges Hall. Our salon is just across the road and yet lots us have never been inside. What an amazing building I recommend you to go and see it its fantastic and the best of all its free entrance.

Is Gingham the big trend for spring I hope not Looking like I’m wearing a tablecloth is not the look for me.
