Salon Talk 14th April

Who's that girl? Why its the Doctors new assistant of Course Karen Gillan

Every week the papers are full surveys and we all pick and choose which ones we agree with and want to tell everyone about. For example this week we learned that not only do blondes have more fun but they also earn more money. 7% more to be exact they also have wealthier husbands and better lifestyles. So the message must be go blonde if you want to improve your lifestyle we liked that one. However another survey not long ago said that brunettes get more respect and are more successful, so big yeah for brunettes. And after all those surveys about eating healthy well this week we are being told that chocolate is good for you and eating five fruits a day doesn’t make the slightest bit of difference to your health but a full English breakfast is the best way to start the day. Seems like whatever you want to promote there is a survey out their to support your claim.

A lot of people have been talking about Doctor Who’s new assistant Karen Gillan they all love her sandy red hair colour. We are also loving Charlotte Church’s new slim figure.

They say change is good but one celeb who’s been getting mixed reaction to their hair colour change is Fern Cotton she’s gone from blonde to a light chestnut, I like it but think she needs to tweak it a little maybe putting some darker lowlights in to give it more depth its like she’s dipped her toe in the water but now she has to either go for it or be stuck with a bit of a nothing hair colour.. One thing she definitely needs to do is change her make-up she’s made the mistake of keeping the same colour pallet. I would like to see her experiment with some different colours going a little bit edgier with her make-up otherwise it makes her look washed out and her hair colour look faded.

A question I always get asked is if you could give somebody a makeover who would it be I used to always say I’d love to do something with the Queens hair. But as she’s got older she has grown into her look and I think she suits it now. Not so her daughter Princes Anne somebody said this week she had a hairstyle like a cottage loaf, and after seeing the pictures I couldn’t help but agree I’m not saying she should go all Cheryl Cole but there is a nice style for her which would totally transform her all she has to do is to pick up the phone and we’d sort it.

Speaking of Cheryl Cole she was voted the best dressed celebrity in the world this week. Nobody here would disagree with that poll

First their where bra’s for sagging boobs now there are knickers for sagging bums. A bumkini is the latest thing to help women to firm and support their sagging behinds. It sounds a little bit to complicated for me it has straps and a belt to support and lift.

Going to the gym used to be boring but not anymore coming soon is the disco gym big in NewYork and on its way here the disco gym is like it says a gym done out like a disco with a DJ mirror balls and disco lights all the machines are under spotlights and there is club ware style gym equipment on sale just so you don’t feel out of place.

Liverpool was voted one of the most stylish places in Britain this week. But we knew that already we get onto trends before everyone else It pointed out how city’s such as Manchester Leeds picked up fashion trends such as false eyelashes or hot pants before anywhere else, and what was Liverpool first to get onto? Velcro rollers and false tan! Not exactly cutting edge is it.

We saw the strangest thing this week on St Georges Plateau it was a 3d cardboard cut out of a small girl it was just propped against one of the statues and from our windows it looked like a small child had been left on her own. The model was so lifelike that everybody was talking about and thought it was a real little girl. In the end somebody went to see. We found out it was there to promote a website www.foundemily.com which highlights child neglect. It was very effective way of drawing attention to the problem and when you check out the website it explains to you what a massive problem child neglect is.

The races are over for another year and they where a great success. The funniest thing that happened to us over the weekend was a visit from a Journalist from the racing post sent to do a story on hair and fashion. Talk about being out of your comfort zone. He struggled and fell at the first
