Got a very funny email the other day asking me to comment on Grace Coddington’s fashion style. Many of you may know Grace as the fiery red head from the recent film the September Issue. The fly on the wall film was about the putting together of the September edition of Vogue. I was flattered to be asked until I realised the journalist seemed to think that Grace and I where friends and the three of us had spent some wild nights out together back in the seventies. I had to explain she’d gotten the wrong person and the closest I came to Ms Coddington was seeing the film. However. If she had wanted to quote me I would have talked about Grace Coddingtons distinctive look and particularly her bright red hair which she wears wild and bushy. Her look has become so iconic it was copied and used on the catwalk at last seasons shows, the style is called appropriately ‘The Coddington’ and was a big hit at London fashion week its so on trend it has been copied by Lady GaGa
Things we won’t be doing to lose weight - The charcoal diet a favourite so the papers where saying this week of Sarah Harding from Girls Aloud. They say sprinkling charcoal on your food is supposed to help weight loss. The experts may try to dress it up and list all the benefits but I would imagine it would just make the food taste like its burned therefore you don’t eat it and voila you lose weight! Why not call it the burned toast diet.
As phones get smaller and smarter they also become less of a fashion item, so what has some bright spark done to make mobile phones more of a status symbol again? They’ve brought back the brick phone you know the original mobile phones that where the size of a house brick and made you look like Dom Jolly on Trigger Happy TV. Well someone from Liverpool has redesigned the original from the eighties but given it added bling £140,000 worth to be exact 22 carat gold and 76 diamonds. When that baby rings and you answer it everyone is going to know about it.
We all love lots of choice when it comes to lunch time and after a bit a Tesco’s sandwich or a M&S salad gets a bit boring so isn’t it nice to see all the Deli’s opening up around the city a cosmopolitan city like our needs choice and deli’s like Delifonseca in Stanley street and the Quarter bar offer so much more to choice of a lunchtime. Now there is a new Spanish Tapas restaurant in Liverpool One Lunya which has its own Deli attached to it and very popular it is proving to be too.
Some people where very excited this week when they got their tickets for Glastonbury in June. But gone are the days of slumming it in a tent a Winibago with separate bedrooms all with double beds. A kitchen bathroom and a living room is the residence of choice for this years festival season.
We saw two great jobs advertised this week one was for Halfords testing their sleeping bags and the other was in the south of France and was for an sun tan cream applier. What a way to spend the summer! Tough work but someones got to do it
The style icon of this month has to be Grace Kelly featured on the cover on this months Vanity Fair and with a retrospective of her work and her styles at the V&A museum in London. That Grace Kelly look is the hot trend of the moment. Her signature Blonde hair and her elegant hairstyles have been singled out a s a key look for the summer sophisticated glamour with a French twist.
Another star everyone has been talking about is Jamie Winston’s her modern take on 40’s glamour in the magazines over the weekend was all about the blonde bombshell and she looked fab.
Client had to cancel her appointment this week because she was stuck in Spain and couldn’t get home because of the Ash clouds. Lots of unhappy people have had to cancel their holidays.
Whitney Houston had everyone talking this week firstly she cancelled her concert in Manchester which was disappointing for lots of people but not as disappointed as those did go to see her and said she was terrible. Everybody is hoping they can get a refund!
Sometimes offers look so good you think they must be a con but when they actually do what they say it’s a big surprise. One mobile phone supplier was offering s a 32inch flat screen TV if you took out a really cheap contract this week one of our girls signed up and two days later a big TV turned up at her home. Of course when everybody found out their was a stampede, but by the time they got there they were all gone, as they say in the SAS who dares wins.
