Scarlett who?
Ever thought what’s the most important thing to have in a hair salon these days? Well the answer is not scissors dryers or the latest products its access to Google. So often clients are coming in and asking for the latest celebrity styles and by latest I mean how they looked last night. Such is the speed of getting things on the internet that its catwalk to salon in a matter of hours. And to prove the point we would have been lost without Google twice this week. Two of our favourite style icons at the moment are Scarlett Johanson and Frankie from the Saturdays. The papers have been full of pictures of Scarlett vamping it up with vivid red hair in the new Iron Man film. This week a client came in wanting to go for Scarlett’s latest look If you had only been reading the magazines you would have been reaching for the red hair dye and the curling tongs. But not so fast, turns out she wanted the up to the minute blond straight look she was sporting on Saturday at an awards ceremony in America. Could have been a big mistake, but thanks to Google images we had the picture in seconds. Then there is ‘THE’ hottest look of the moment the short A-symetric undercut of Frankie from the Saturdays. Maybe clients are acting on impulse but everyone wants that cut. But its got to be the one on the poster ads. Thanks to Google we have it to hand in seconds. And that’s the great thing if your not sure what it is a client wants Google it. Celebs are changing their images so often theses days its hard to keep up with them. One clients idea of the latest Victoria Beckham look could turn out to be the crop she had last week or the subtle blonde extended fringe look. The only way to be sure that you’re both on the same wavelength is to fire up the laptop, the blackberry or the IPhone and get googling.
Cougar update. Firstly we were not talking about the big cat that is found in America and is featured on all those nature programmes. These big cats are found in the bars and clubs of town centres. Their prey is young men and if the press are to be believed every weekend the hunt is on. The Cougar we’re talking about is a woman of 35 or older who chases after men at least eight years younger than her. But the cross referencing between preditors doesn’t end there. There is also the Puma or a woman who is younger than 35 but still likes much younger men. Now this shouldn’t be confused with the Panther or the Lynx who are of course older than Cougars but are still looking for something a little bit younger and then you have the Bob Cat who is married cougar but doesn’t let that stop her having a good time and finally you have the Cheetah who’s actions should speak for themselves. So now you know. If I was a young man out on the town this weekend I’d be afraid very afraid.
Random things we’ve been talking about this week – Marco Piere White is opening a restaurant in Liverpool city centre next spring. Everyone loves the Swan in Aughton now we can’t wait for his Chapel Street restaurant.
Heidi Klumm looking to mummsy, with her bland hair colour and turned under pageboy. Stop it your supposed to be a supermodel inspire us.
Nobody is loving Louise Redknapp new hair colour she’s gone too blonde now and its starting to age her. Our tip add some multi-tones to break it up.
Kerry Kattona is looking fab again.
Justin Beiber, who? You might ask. You either love him or have never heard of him massive in America and set to be the next big thing here for the TWI generation teenagers brought up on Twighlight Twitter and Turkey Twizzlers.
Yasmin Le Bon has her own fashion range for Wallis can’t decide if we love it because the clothes are good or because she looks fab.
White Jeans for summer - looks good in pictures but practical don’t think so.

Next big thing – Sewing Café’s big in Paris. A coffee and a sewing machine whilst you chat now you use your coffee break wisely. And the name of the café? The sweat shop!
