After all the hype in the magazines the trailers on TV and the advertisement on the big screen opposite the salon .Finally the new Sex And The City film is about to open.
And we can’t wait!

With SATC1 I remember going to a screening on the first night and being overwhelmed by how glamorous everyone was dressed pure New York Style. I had come straight from work without thinking I had forgot to dress to impress, and felt a right a mess! Everyone there had gotten into the spirit of the film and were styled up to the nines for a mid-week equivalent of a Saturday night on the town and they were starting the party with what else but Cosmopolitan cocktails. From the opening credits the film dazzled and we all got caught up in a two hour catwalk show.

So who are the sex and the city girls and what’s their secret. We had a good talk about them in the salon this week to try and find out the attraction of Carrie Charlotte Miranda and of course Samantha. And to find out if there is a little bit of the sex in this city.

Carrie Bradshaw is the style queen and fashion heart of the group. We can all relate to Carrie she is the girl with the style we all want to copy. Everyone thinks Carrie has a little bit of Liverpool chic street savvy about her. She ticks all the Liverpool girls boxes. She’s super fashion conscious, always aware of trends, quirky and loves to look good. You never see her looking scruffy whimsical maybe but never scruffy. Liverpool girls love Carrie Bradshaw. From her super sweet maxi dresses to her love of La boutain shoes Carrie would blend effortlessly into our city. Her romantic tousled sunkissed hair style, is the look most girls want. Carrie has that wild streak that means she is as adventurous with her hair styles as she is with her clothes she likes to wear her hair with body and bend never flat and a mix of curls from soft and loose to tight and crimped. Carrie knows her hair is as important a part of her look as any of her Halston vintage dresses

From super trendy Carrie we come to yummy mummy Charlotte. She is the Sloane ranger of the group conservative in her dress sense but still ultra fashionable. The sensible side of us wants to dress like Charlotte. To always look effortlessly groomed. Her hairstyle compliments her dress sense, again simple but always elegant. A rich chocolate colour with secret tones to personalise it. The cut is simple and easy to manage it’s a versatile yet popular look. A classic styles which is Charlotte’s trademark

In business your personality can best be displayed through how you look Miranda epitomises this and she is the power dresser of the group. She has a strong personality and this is enhanced by her bold red hair and androgynous hairstyle. Does it work? Definitely Miranda shows that being tough doesn’t mean you can’t have a softer side. This is a very versatile hairstyle and can be adapted for an super sexy evening look. The rich red tones in her hair are standout. The secret of why this look works so well for her is she’s got her make-up right the tones and shades are a perfect compliment to her hair colour. And the combination makes a strong haircut and colour very wearable and a head turner.

Finally we come to Samantha. What can we say about her the Cougar and the no nonsense character of the group. Her look is pure vamp. She always looks super sexy and super elegant. Age is no restriction for her, and Samantha’s dress sense is always spot on. She is the women we would all like to be. Confident, elegant, and stylish. The key to her success has to be her hair. Her hairdresser has been clever enough to let her hair colour compliment her as she grows older. They have cleverly kept her hair a few shades lighter than her natural base without going over the top rather than aging her it has kept her young looking. A soft golden blonde base colour with a mix of high and lowlights means her hair always has a fresh and summery look. Her make-up is again important never to heavy a healthy glow would best describe her look. Samantha’s hair and make-up are personalised to her they aren’t a copy she’s not trying to look like someone else it’s a bespoke style one that neither ages her nor try to make her look younger. Having such a good look gives her confidence and we all know how much confidence Samantha has.

So tomorrow we’ll be raising our Cosmopolitan to Carrie and the girls and dreaming about that New York Lifestyle. Remember there’s a little bit of the Sex and the City girls in all of us, its just about releasing our inner Carrie Bradshaw.
