Key
Trends for 2011
It’s
a new year and that means that it’s time to get out our crystal
ball and look at some of the key trends and looks that we
predict will be big in 2011. Want to start the new year on top of the
fashion game? Well, here’s what’s hot and what’s not for the
coming twelve months.
A
shaggy hair story..
Make
a statement with a new, 70s inspired hairstyle. Supermodel and star
of the Max Factor ads, Carmen Kass takes the lead with this look. She
has re-invented her image with a hot new hairstyle that’s short
with lots of texture.
2011
will see the classic ‘shag’ making a big comeback. The 90s had
its own version with Meg Ryan and now the look is being updated yet
again by Carmen and Carey Mulligan.
My
key hair colour trends for the year are subtle, delicate blondes
tinged with a palette of soft pastel shades with my favourite being
apricot blonde.
Other
key trends for the year are:
Chunky
hair slides and clips are the new way to accessorise your hair
instead of wearing an Alice band.
Less
poker straight pony tails and more rolls and flicks to give fly away
texture.
Big
hair remains a fashion staple but this year it’s all about curls,
curls, curls!
Brace
yourself ladies for the return of wax and tweezers as bold, bushy
eyebrows are so 2010 and the groomed look is back in.
When
it comes to make-up, goth shades and smoky eyes are out and it’s
all about emphasising
healthy, bright red lips and
pastel eyeshadows. But the same rules apply: eyes OR lips, never
both.
2011
will be the year of the owl with tawny tones as the palette to suit
blondes, brunettes and redheads.
Top
fashion colours for Spring/Summer 2011 are tangerine, lime, coral,
fuchsia and honeysuckle. And
the model we’ll be seeing wearing them at the hottest fashion shows
is Lindsey Wixon.
To
sum up the hair, fashion and make-up are the three B’S: big, bold
and bright. The 70s will also be a big influence but with a modern
twist. The ‘shag’ will be the key hairstyle of the year.
Another
big influence on how we dress at the start of the year will be
ballet. Black Swan hits cinemas at the end of this month and Natalie
Portman’s diva ballerina look is sure to have everyone running out
for tutus, cross over tops and strapped ankle flats.
Other
cinema inspired influences over the next year will be superheroes
when a whole host of masked men including Batman, Spiderman, Green
Hornet, Green Lantern and even Captain America coming to the rescue
of glamorous damsels in distress. Break out your invisible planes,
ladies because Wonder Woman is back too.
