Hair predictions for 2007
The look for 2007 ?
Hi
I’ve been busy preparing my predictions for 2007, thinking about what direction hair will be taking over the next year. Predictions are always subjective and theirs no right or wrong in visualising new trends but I like to think that by being switched on to what’s going on around in fashion, movies and in what kids on the street are wearing you are able to get a good feel on what’s going to be hot.
So in my opinion, I think there will be a strong influence of the sixties in haircuts. Heavy fringes, and low side partings will be a theme. I also think we will still be cutting a lot of bobs, but with more layers.
I really think short elfin cuts will be big. And so will asymmetric cuts, with layers cut shorter at the crown allowing the hair to be styled with height. Layers will have a lot of disconnection to make the hair seamless and create a new up to date feel of timeless classics. Under cuts will also make a come back. For longer hair the same principles apply but the styling of long hair will be ‘glamorous grunge’ creating those looks that seem like you've made no effort when you have. Also I think cuts will frame the face more.
My colour predictions are that hair will stay darker but instead of a block colour two or thee different shades will be added to make it more personalised. For those who want to stay blonde bleach is back in a big way either full head or bold pieces. Baby blonde toners will be a hit. I think we will see cinnamon, light chestnut and milk chocolate shades growing more popular. Also reds will be everywhere, but not harsh reds, soft reds with an under tone of ash.
There will be a lot of Goth fashion influences around so that will have a bearing on hair fashion so blacks and blue black's with blue and purple pieces.
So as you can see there is a lot going on in 2007 hair wise. We take notice of trends because that is our job and our clients trust us to keep them up to date. But we never want our clients to be fashion victims. The key to any new look is to take the trend and personalise it to suit the individual. And that’s what I’ll be doing over the next year.

Cuts – Short gamine styles will be a big trend for 2007 I also see a move towards strong cuts for long and short hair with an emphasis on a bold outline. Blunt fringes will be a feature of cuts for the new year. For long hair again strong outlines but with lots of multi-textured layers.
Colour – I think I’m going to be working a lot with coppers and burned raw colours lots of variations on reds and chestnuts, will be hot for me. I’m also experimenting with creamy blondes and getting some fab results
